just wondering...all the bills in the BAR account are taken cared of by financial aid automatically, but how do we pay for housing w/ financial aid? from where i went, it seems they only accept credit card...kinda confused can someone show me the way to pay housing w/finacial aid??

You'll get a refund from your financial aid. Use that money to pay for housing and then anything out of your pocket. Refunds come via BruinDirect to your bank account or through the form of a check sent to your address.

The refund from the BAR account should go to your checking/savings via BruinDirect. If you haven't signed up for BruinDirect, UCLA will mail you a check. You can then use those funds to pay for housing.

You can pay housing by check, too.

Edit: Oops. Too slow.

*ing **hh!!!

oh so let met get this straight....all the money left from paying tuition goes into bruindirect (some kinda banking account) and ur suppose to take money outa there to pay for housing?

lol, i thought we pay housing like we do for tuition. i didnt have to do anything as soon as finaid was in my account they automatically paid tuition off...so its different for housing eh?

Their's a daily withdraw limit on my account... :(

BruinDirect is a service that will deposit your financial aid refund into your personal banking account. Use the refund from your bank account to pay for housing.

Yes, it's different for housing.

For the daily withdrawal - request an extension through the Office of Residential Life for winter and spring payments. For this round, you have until the 28th when your classes are dropped or held from you. In the case that you can't manage your balance and deposits for housing between now and then, make a statement about loans in process and their not being disbursed yet so that they put you on the "no-hold list" or just explain your financial circumstances and your inability to pay everything in one sitting.

No, BruinDirect is the transfer system. You tell UCLA what savings or checking account to transfer the refund to.

Yes, it's different for housing. What a hassle, huh. :P

EDIT: STOP IT EMMLIENENEN T^T

Grasspuppet, my bank account has a withdrawal limit too.
Just make 2 separate payments over the course of 2 days.

That, or write a check and bring it to the housing office in Sproul.

so bruindirect transfers funds into ur checking/saving account

but i dont recall that i've signed up for it, so i dont think they kno my checking/saving account. should i go to the finaid officer or something just to sign of for it?

Yes, it does.

Up to you. It makes things convenient.

They'll send you a check by mail and deposit it yourself.

Sign up for it for future quarters.

I'm just gonna pay it with my drug dealing money! :)

One would think that such a school as UCLA would integrate their housing/tuition payments and make things more fluid and less confusing....

a;owbejf;owajewa

Seriously that would make things SOOOO much easier if housing and tuition were paid under one system.

screams

Or, you can call your bank and ask them to make a one-time raise on your daily debit limit.

do loans work this way with tuition costs? do i have to pay by credit card first?

Did anyone receive a "Notice of Acceptance" letter? I got my housing offer online and then a Budget Worksheet in the mail, but that's all.

Please help because my parents are griping about the notice of acceptance letter and won't pay until they've seen it :(

how long does it take to get the loan papers sent to you? my efan's still being revised and I have a horrid fear of my classes being dropped and being charged a late fee :T
