I’m headed to Bama in August and I’m finishing up housing/enrollment application. One question that’s been bothersome: when are housing payments even due? When we head for Bama Bound, will Saban demand a number upfront, or is any of the cost transferable to student loans? I’m not 100% sure we can pay it all upfront and I’m not sure how they want it.

If I recall correctly, the balance of housing was due the same time that tuition was due which was around when school started in August. There are payment plans available, and you need to sign up for those a few weeks earlier than that.
The above info is correct. Room/Board are part of the tuition payment which is due in August. You will receive an email beforehand about enrolling in the divided payment plan. One nice thing is that the university takes a credit card payment without charging a fee so this is a great option also in addition to the payment plans.
