Housing payments for the fall are due on August 7th, in full. How come we have to pay in full before we even move in?

If you have scholarships or grants that will take care of your housing then you don’t have to pay anything. Your financial aid will cover that when it is dispursed.

Well, I have 100% BF and I got the Pegasus Gold but that won’t cover all of the Towers. Will I still be deferred on paying until financial aid is dispersed?

I would either email or call the financial aid office. Mine is all covered from scholarships and grants, for the summer also, so I don’t know how that works if you don’t have enough financial aid.

It is for the summer, but I am sure it is the same information for fall, just different dates.

Can someone check me on this? They said at orientation that financial aid would be disbursed during the 2nd week of class in the fall. If payment is due August 7th, before class even begins, will they see our aid and make it count anyway, even before it is disbursed?

Your payment would be defered if financial aid will cover it.

How do you know that Fall housing payment is due 8/7?

Also, when is Fall tuition payment due?

I searched and couldn’t find anything. There are no invoices up yet for Fall either.

I just got back from attending the orientation for my son to start school in the fall. Here is what I learned. Housing payments are due Aug 7 but tuition (on fee invoice) is not due until September. I was told the housing office accountants have a summary for each student showing total benefits (Bright futures scholarships, grants, Fla Prepaid, etc) and total expenses (tuition, housing, etc.) The housing accountants can tell you, if you don’t know the numbers, what the balance is going to be. For example, if fall tuition is $4,000 and fall housing is $2600 and you have total expected benefits from BF, FLA prepaid and Pegasus scholarship of $5000 then the balance you must pay by Aug 7 is the difference i.e. $1,600. The assumption is that tuition must be paid in full first (actually deferred until actual disbursement) and that any remaining money can go toward the housing costs.

Hope this helps. This is new to me so if I have something wrong somebody please correct me.

Keep in mind that for fall you paid the $200 tuition deposit and the $200 housing deposit. If your other financial aid more than covers your tuition, you can deduct this $400 from your housing bill as well.

In our case, we’ll have the Academic Bright Futures and Pegasus Gold. Bright Futures USED to be a complete wash with tuition, leaving the Pegasus to apply towards housing. Plus the deposits coming off as well.

If you get a pretty close idea of what you’ll owe for housing after all the financial aid comes in and pay that by August 7, they won’t ding you for late fees if you are off by a few dollars, in my experience. Especially with the uncertainly caused by Bright Futures no longer covering 100% of tuition.

Give them a call and ask.

For Fall 2009:

Housing payment is due by Friday, August 7th

Tuition payment is due by Friday, September 4th

It is as Miltonguy stated. You must pay, by August 7, any balance NOT COVERED by your aid (BF, FPP, loans, scholarships). If you are not sure how much you will owe, call the housing office and ask to be connected to one of the accountants and they will go over your account with you and help you determine what your balance is.

I found additional information on Tuition, Housing, and how Financial Aid is affected:
