Towers (and general Housing questions)

<p>After contacting the UCF Housing department, they switched my contract to one for the Towers starting in Fall 2011. I have some questions about the Towers (I'll be in Tower III, since that's the Honors Housing, if it matters, and I'll be in a 4/2 since that's the cheapest). </p>

<ol>
<li><p>Are the rooms mixed? Since everyone has their own room, will guys and girls share an apartment? Or are they single-sex?</p></li>
<li><p>What does the kitchen come with? What doesn't it come with?</p></li>
<li><p>Since both freshman and upperclassmen live in the Towers, are there as many activities as there would be in all-freshman dorms?</p></li>
<li><p>Do they try and keep freshman together, or at least with sophomores? Or is there a decent chance I'll be rooming with seniors/graduate students?</p></li>
<li><p>What's different about the Honors housing than normal? Different activities? Less parties? </p></li>
</ol>

<p>Also, some general housing questions:</p>

<li><p>What's the policy on overnight guests?</p></li>
<li><p>I heard there's something where the RAs bring you a cake on your birthday? I'll be moving in on my 18th birthday, so I'd like to know more about this.</p></li>
<li><p>Is the internet wireless?</p></li>

<p>I can answer some of your questions:

  1. Same sex in each apt
  2. They try to keep freshman together but there are no guarantees
  3. no probelm with overnight guests unless they stay too long (like move in)
  4. there is a service that does something for birthdays (balloons and cake) but I’m not sure you could get that on move in day
  5. no wireless internet in the dorms</p>

<p>I’ll answer some more:
2. it has a dishwasher, oven, stove, fridge, cabinets, doesn’t have a microwave or any dishware or cooking utensils
3. I’d say there are about the same number of activities, since I live in Nike, which has freshman and upperclassman and there are activities all the time at both AV and the Towers
5. there is honors specific activities in the lobby…but honors kids are pretty much the same as everyone else…they party and are just as noisy</p>

<p>I hate to sign the 11.5 mo contract with Towers since I will be doing research out of home or study abroad. What is the next best option? Thanks</p>
