Housing Question

If you are in a residential college, can you room with someone that's not in the residential college? For example, if I were to enter James Madison as a freshman, could someone that's not in James Madison room with me in Case Hall? Thanks!

Definitely. If you were in James Madison and roomed with a non-madison student, you both would automatically be put in Case Hall. The major thing to get a roommate is to make sure to request that you both want each other to be roommates (before May 1st I believe). I don’t remember the procedure to do that, look it up on the MSU website or shoot them an email.

That’s great to hear, Thanks!!

Fa-la is correct; as long as you submit your housing contract before May 1st and each person requests each other (I think you need the other person’s name, student number, and housing number) you’re pretty much guaranteed to get that person as a roommate. After May 1st it can’t be guaranteed. And I know that people in Lyman Briggs can request to have other majors live with them too; not sure about any of the other residential colleges.
