ridonkulous, I got RVC as well. I'm not too happy about it but I guess it has a couple good things going for it. The only thing I can think about is convenience but whatever. Question: On Minerva, did it just say that you have been assigned to a room in RVC? That's what it said for me. It's kind of vague. I'm not sure if it's a single or a double. I like to think that since they didn't mention doube it's probably a single...could you clear it up for me please?

Hey, so this is exactly what my housing status says:

The Residence Admissions Office is pleased to advise you that you have been assigned to:

Residence Hall: Royal Victoria College
Room Type: single room female

Detailed arrival information, the Life in Rez Handbook and copies of your lease will be mailed to you.

You can also visit the Residences web site www.mcgill.ca/residences/undergraduate for lots of information on check-in dates, facilities, and more pictures of the residence to which you have been assigned.

Please note: Your room number will be available only upon arrival. Hall and room assignments are not subject to revision during the first two weeks of classes. However, if for any reason you wish to request a room or hall change, you may request one after September 15th.

Actually, another plus for living at RVC is that your rooms/ bathrooms are much cleaner then if you had a co-ed dorm ie. upper rez. And who knows, maybe you have temporary residence until they put you somewhere else?

Funny stuff. Scroll down and click on your rez, or some other subject.

thanks, ridonkulous. That's not what it said for me so I called McGill. They told me that I'm in temporary housing because I didn't make it to the first lottery, even though I paid the deposit on time. They offered me something new. Pres Rez. They just got the building this year. Anybody know anything about it?

its a great building tasnia.
its write by the milton gates, in between Greenbriar and RVC.
I'd say go for it,
temp housing sucks

What is temp housing? I don't understand, given that we paid the deposit on time, why that is what we're given. Does this mean the school overbooked and if so, this seems to be a violation of the promise of guaranteed housing for incoming first year undergraduates. If someone can explain, it would be much appreciated.

your explanation is exactly right. the school overbooks every year, and then they put people in temp housing.
what you shoudl do is call the housing office, and see if they can offer you a spot in a different dorm (like pres rez or the Dio).

Thanks-_What's DIO?

pres rez = presbiteryan college,
dio = the diocesian college.

dont let the religious tones scare you, its a school thats been converted into a mcgill rez

Bump for those who missed this.

got into mcconnell, can’t wait to meet you folks there.

my question is, how do they assign the specific rooms? meaning, is there a benefit to arriving early for move-in day to grab the best rooms, or does it not matter?

This thread you’ve revived is a good five years old… Might I suggest you visit the official Facebook page for your rez? On mine you can ask the Floor Fellows those kinds of questions.

Sorry, laughed way too hard at this…
