Housing suggestions for female Fr CS major? Armory House?

So I'll be a freshman this fall majoring in CompSci, accepted my offer of admission kinda late and the housing options seem pretty limited.

For private certified housing, ended up applying to Armory because I didn't hear anything especially good or bad about it (as opposed to Illini Tower which seems to be getting a lot of bad reviews). Anyone know anything about Armory?

Any university housing suggestions? I'll be a female student in Eng-Computer Science, want somewhere where I can get studying done but that won't be a complete graveyard socially. Also I have a past history of sleeping disorders so somewhere as quiet as possible is very important to me.

My parents suggested the WIMSE (Women in Math, Science & Engineering) Program but I'm not sure if I feel comfortable with living with all girls and breathing math/science 24/7. Pros and cons?

Thanks! :)

When I was a freshman at U of I in 1985-86, I lived at Hendrick House, which was very close to the engineering campus. A lot of the people who lived on our floor were engineering or computer science majors.

And all the bad things that you are hearing about Illini tower were things that I heard 30 years ago. It was a very overpriced place to live, and I don’t really think that students got their money’s worth.

Hendrick House is a pretty safe bet. Quiet and as close as you can get to Siebel Center (for a dorm). Downside is that it may be a bit too quiet and is far from where the “action” is. But then again if quiet is the main concern it is a good thing. If you want to dial it up during the weekend you can always go bum at a friend’s place.
