Housing Website says Microwaves not Allowed?

Are microwaves not allowed? If we bring them, what is the penalty?

you will get shot in the face.....

I don't know - but why would you bring one since you already know of the policy? But if you brought it nevertheless, I would imagine the most logical thing of them to do would be to make you put it in the kitchen (where everyone is going to use it).

I might bring one anyways, if the penalty isn't too harsh. For example, my friend last year brought in a burner and got fined $200 and had (i swear) to write a research paper on the dangers of using a burner.

Just use the common one. I doubt there's much of a line to use a microwave. One of my freshman year roommates brought one and it would only microwave for around 10 seconds before tripping the circuit breaker. Useless.

do not bring a microwave...the microwave in the kitchenette of your dorm is good enough! most people just eat nasties or order in anyways...

and yeah it will trip the breaker...even a hair dryer will!

oh, so does every suite come with a small kitchen and a microwave? Or is it one big kitchen in the entire building?

If you really need a microwave, rent a microfridge from Cornell. It's a minifridge, mini freezer, and a dinky little microwave all put together. You probably won't ever need the microwave, however.

1) they don't want you to bring a mircowave because it's high voltage and can and will shortcircuit your room and possibly some of your neighbors
2) there is a mircowave in the kitchen area on each floor. you really don't need your own, trust me
3) if you really do want a microwave then you can rent one from Cornell. It's a fridge with a mircowave built on top.

The penalty is death.

I tried using a blow dryer in my room and the lights went out, so I don't recommend a microwave.

i brought one my first year, my RA didn't care - i didn't use it much, there were some in the common rooms that were enough

it really depends on your RA

completely useless and it will shortcircuit your room. I rented one from Cornell and me and my roommate ended up never using it because it would turn off our computers.
