Hello. I have some questions regarding housing at the University Of Minnesota. I had sent in my housing application a week before the due date with preferences towards Frontier/Territorial hall. Although, I have heard that this usually leads to students being placed in expanded housing. I truly want to land a spot in the freshmen superblocks although I don't know what to do in order to bump up my chances to land a spot in those dorms. Has anyone else been in my position? Are there any suggestions?

I had my orientation two days ago and they kinda touched on the Frontier/Territorial demands. From what it sounds like, those are the most popular buildings, so I wouldn’t count on getting in. My step-brother will be a sophomore and he said he heard of some people getting expanded housing, but I talked to a lot of people saying they had requested those two halls as well. I guess it will just depend on how specific you were. If nothing else, I would hope to get into Centennial or Pioneer. But good luck!

I sent my application in on the last day and ended up in expanded housing in Territorial (which was my number one.) I lived in expanded housing for a semester in a study lounge. I really enjoyed it - it’s essentially the same except you don’t have closets and you might live in a triple instead of a double.

I got moved to a real room in T-Hall at the end of first semester and I also liked that. Seriously, don’t worry.
