How do you know which buildings you will be put in?
I heard that Tenochca and Zura are the worst, how do I avoid them?
(Incoming Freshman btw)

This is from the website regarding housing.
First time freshmen are NOT assigned on a first come, first served basis. All first time freshmen required to live on campus and first time freshmen who apply for housing by May 1 are guaranteed a space in housing. Assignments are made at random, based on the selected preferences listed in the living choices section of the submitted License Agreement.
I looked at the housing application and you can select single/double/triple and 1st-6th choice for living communities or themes. If you want to avoid certain buildings you may want to check previous year threads to see if certain communities are housed in these buildings. My son is also hoping to avoid Zura (especially) but it looks like you do not have a building choice. Good luck and I will let you know if I find more info. If you go to the Open House in March you may be able to get more information from the housing office. We will not be visiting until spring break in April.

I was at SDSU Open House this weekend and the only Residence Halls that they let us tour were Olmeca, Zura, and Tenochca. Olmeca is by far the worst and is pretty damn ghetto imho. Zura and Tenochca weren’t very nice either but they were far better than Olmeca. The RA’s that gave us the tours told us that the living&learning communities randomly rotate throughout the different residence halls each year so you don’t know which residence hall your chosen living community will be in. I’m praying I make it into one of the better housing areas.
