for me i have a problem.. during the holidays like christmas break or spring break I wont be able to return home.. so i need to stay on campus i guess. If i lived on the halls that closed during those times.. where would i go? or is it safer if i choose a hall that stays open during the breaks like University towers and villa alvarado?
i dont really like those two, i think cuicacalli and chapultepec looks better.. but its too bad they close during breaks.

i went to the housing site to look up information on each of them but if you have any information or stories or reputations of each hall please share :)

well i thought about that, but since right now i dont know anything about the future yet, it might be kind of risky? like the christmas break is like.. 3 weeks?

be friendly to every one and find a friend living in an apartment, if he goes away for the holidays im sure he will b happy to let u stay if u offer a lil $ or free. and id call the school cuz im sure they got plans, they wouldnt let dorm students be bums for 3 weeks.

From what I've read it is much easier to meet new people staying in regular dorm...so I would choose between Zura, Tenochca, and Chapultepec

I also heard Zura is the funnest, Tenochca is a little nicer than Zura, but not as fun...and Chapultepec is the nicest because it has the same furniture as Cuicacalli, but is too far away from stuff. (other dorms, food, aztec center...etc)

Good post danny. I am in Texas but got accepted to SDSU and will be attending the university this upcoming fall. I'm stoked about attending SDSU but I'm having a hard time deciding between Chappy and Tenoch.

It will be weird for a little while since I won't know anyone...anyone else in that boat?

yeap i am accepted out of state/ international as well..
u guys are still better than me.. i still havent ever step foot on american soil in my life :D this'll be my first time

I have questions to anyone that attends or attended SDSU or who has knowledge about it.

First -- if you leave in apartments, is it necessary to have a car to drive and get food? I know there is no meal plan. The first year, I won't have a car here so I wander if there is a supermarket or something.

Second -- Is it better to be in apartments or university towers? I am thinkin which one I should set as my 2nd and 3d choice if the suit choice won't work out.

villa alvarado is all the way to the right by itself and university tower is all the way on the bottom left.

and from the map i cant really judge if its a really far distance that needs a bus or a bike, or it can be walking distance to the school buildings.

I went to the Open House on April 8th and talked to many of the students there. Some of the most interesting replies that I got were from those involved in SDSU's Associated Students (their ASB.) Many of them lived in Chappy their first and loved it! Although they commented on the fact that it was isolated from the rest of the campus, that seems to be the only drawback. The dorms there are much nicer in terms of appearance. Nevertheless, I plan to live in Zura because it's closer to everything else. The best advice I got from students on campus was that incoming students should either live in Chapultepec or Zura halls. Many students said to avoid the suties and apartments your first year because you will not make the kind of connections that would at the traditional dorms.

im deciding between the LLC freshman only dorms, cuic, or zura. zura is a little run down from what i saw, and right next door to a few other nicer dorms that id rather stay in. chappy is a little too isolated from me since its all alone across from campus.

I once thought about living in the LLC, but I changed my mind for several reasons. The LLC is a Living Learning Community, as you may know. Everyone who lives here is a part of this program. If you do not know what you want to major, the LLC might be the place for you to consider. If you like to group study, the LLC might be the place for you. If you like to have a large staff for help at your disposal, then the LLC might be the place for you. However, these are the only strong points of the LLC. Students who were not satisfied with the LLC pointed out that it has stricter Resident Advisors, fewer students, and unappealing aesthetics as far as the dorms themselves are concerned. Incoming students who have done their research lean toward moving into the Zura and Chapultepec Halls. This is largely because Chapultepec also offers many learning communities similar to the LLC while offering newer dorms and a larger building (thus more students are there.) The Zura hall does not offer as many learning communities, but does have a reputation of having outgoing students. Overall, the LLC does not have as much appeal to incoming students as the other halls on campus.
