Housing

What did others think of the housing(non-honors)? I’ve seen two different dorms and felt they were the worst dorms I’ve seen on any campus and I’ve visited a lot of schools between 2 kids. Love the school otherwise. Also, housing is not available all 4 years. How are the off-campus options and is there a lot available in walking distance?

I don’t know if you’re still reading this, but my son was in the honors housing the first two years, and he agrees that most of the other housing is not great. He recommends the Living Learning houses for those not in the honors college. He just moved into Redstone Lofts which are privately-owned apartments for UVM students only that are actually located on-campus and it’s really nice. There’s not a ton really close, but UVM does run shuttles to the farther housing areas.

In general, I think it’s a good transition for kids to move out of the dorms their junior/senior year, but it can be hard on the kids sophomore year, scrambling to get something “good” for the next year.
