Just saw my S got 3942 as his contract number. Assume that this is not good
You’ll be perfectly fine with that number, a lot of those that get numbers decide not to attend FSU. You may not get Azalea or Magnolia (the newest dorms) but you also won’t get stuck in Salley (oldest least desirable dorm). Just make a list in order of your preference so that when your appointment time comes you can quickly search for openings in those dorms. You will be picking your actual room within the dorm so it takes a bit of searching to find the spot you want.

D got 1782. Do you guys think she has a chance at Azalea or Magnolia?
I got 120. Do i have a shot at Azalea/Magnolia/Dorman/Deviney?
Son got 3313…ugh!
It’s very possible for numbers in the 3000-4000 to get Dorman and Deviney. The apartment style dorms go first (Traditions and Ragans) because the upper classmen wants those. Then Azalea and Magnolia because they are the newest. After that it is usually Dorman/Deviney followed by the rest (Wildwood, Landis if honors, Broward, Gilchrist, Degraf, etc etc).
Update: Got into UF, will cancel my fsu housing contract.
So is there a ranking from most to least desirable? We will be going down soon to check out the school. Is there an example of what the selection process looks like so he can quickly make his selection when the time comes?
Google “FSU dorms rated” and you’ll find some good articles about the FSU dorms. Some students prefer newer so Azalea and Magnolia go quickly as they are only 2 years old. Then again there are some students that prefer the older dorms with larger rooms or closer location to the Suwanee dining hall.
Don’t worry about needing to choose fast once you are in your appointment time. It’s just helpful to have a list of the dorms in order of your preference so that you can be ready to choose an alternate if your top choice is full.

Many folks, but not all, who were accepted to UF last Friday will be letting their FSU housing numbers self cancel tomorrow. That should move everyone up a few spots. My daughter was #1818.
My son got around 3100. Did all of you in the 3000s put in your housing contracts during the two-day lottery?
@SusyBee Yes my S did. However, although we signed up immediately after release, I had to print out the form and have him sign it since he is not yet 18. Didn’t get it into the system until the second day.
We signed up at 9:05 am the day the housing contract lottery went into effect and got 2478. I wonder if the later you did it the lower the #? Son got accepted to honors college so will see if he gets landis on the day they open the reservations.
@deniedgator totally random number assignment. I also signed up at 9:05 and my son has #1270
@FLBeachBaby Thanks for info. I just wondered if later you did it the lower the #. I see ppl posting the had below 200 and just wondered if they did it later or earlier.
We signed up during the window and my son got 3133…
My son signed up at 9:00am on the dot and still got 1100ish. His friend signed up at 9:10am and got 100ish.
So D got in the 7000s. Is she going to be out of luck with housing? We’re from out of state so she needs housing! Help please!
