I have a triple in unit 2...can any one tell me nething about unit 2?
such as food?
location?
social life?
nething?!...neone else got thesame thing?

Well, since Crossroads sits right between Units 1 and 2, the residents from those two units share Crossroads. It can become very, VERY crowded - I always go about a half hour before it closes so that there are no lines but they're still making fresh food. I'm sorry you're stuck in a triple - my friend last year compared it to living in a sardine can. Don't worry about it too much - you shouldn't be spending all your time in your room anyways. If you need to study, there are always lounges every other floor or you could go to the library. Just don't bring a ton of stuff because you'll have nowhere to put it.

Unit 2 is 3 blocks from campus - Haste and College. If you walk fast, you should be able to get to Sproul in 5-6 minutes no problem. Some people don't like the fact that Unit 2 is right next to People's Park, which if you don't already know, is headquarters for shady homeless people. In general, the homeless people are pretty harmless, so don't fret. Social life...well, you're living with 30 other people on your floor, so it should be fairly social. The social scene in all the high-rises in the three southside units are basically the same.

Hey! I just got the exact same assignment. I like the location a lot, but I'm not too happy about a triple... if we end up being roommates, I call the single bed! Kidding... sort of... haha

Silly freshmen, unit 2 is awesome. triple is fine. i lived there last year and it was great.

not great, awesome.

hehe...yay im excited! that would b cool 2 b ur roomate vayerly..
i'll b okay w/tripple as long as nobody is a clean freak...like im clean, sure i clean up and stuff...buh i hate those like "okay im not touching that doorknob till u get a gallon of lysol on it" type people.
mmkie im out. nemore info?

wierd... I got a triple in Unit 2 too!!

I got a Unit 2 triple too! Hopefully having a triple isn't as bad as they say. Two dormmates instead of one...double the fun? :D

A gallon is too much...I use about 3 pints.

In all seriousness though, I think I'm quite the opposite. I hope I don't have messy roommates. If they touch the post-it notes that I put on all my stuff, they die... >.>

Triple in Unit 2 here too... Seem to be lots of us

Most rooms are doubles, but because each triple holds three students and each double two, I'm not sure how many students are in triples versus doubles.

On the bright side, triples DO get to move in a day earlier. I'm a little concerned about space---how do closets work? Aren't there only two per room?

hehhh...I definitely couldn't make it to Sproul in 5-6 minutes. Maybe I walk insanely slowly?? It's closer to the entrance of the campus next to Boalt, so I could probably get to Haas in 6 minutes from Unit 2.

Unit 2's fine; it's just like Unit 1. In fact don't be surprised if you accidentally go try going into your corresponding building in Unit 1 during your first week. Underground there's a main rec room with a tv, couches, pool table (although you have the same things in each building anyway), a computing center that's pretty good (free resume paper, woo), a small exercise room, mailroom, and music practice room.

There's only two closets per room still, but triples have an extra dresser that has maybe 5 drawers? 50% of students are in triples, 50% in doubles (in the units), since one side of the hallway on each floor is made up of triples and the other side of the hallway is made up of doubles.

Crossroads is CRAZY crowded at the beginning of each semester. Like, the line will snake well around the block onto Durant. All the freshmen don't seem to realize that you don't have to eat dinner there every single day and that you don't have to get there at 6. (Dinner is served from 5-8pm) I'm living in the dorms again, but for the first month, I'm going to only eat dinner at the GBC/Ramona's/the Den.

Hmmm . . . my friends did not have this set-up, and this also does not take into account the non-high rise buildings, correct?

Yeah, okay, my number only applies to the high rise unit buildings. But I'm pretty sure it's consistent Units 1-3...

Does your 50/50 take into account stairs, bathrooms, garbage and recycle shoot, lounges, etc? Or do you think that 50% of the rooms are triples and 50% doubles? 50% in triples vs. 50% of the rooms being triples are two very different things.

I meant 50% rooms are triples, 50% doubles; so I guess that means that more than 50% are in triples and less than 50% are in doubles. And no it doesn't account for stairs/bathrooms/garbage/lounges/etc
