Is it required to live on campus for the first two years? I've read both that it is and isn't.
And...any opinions on what dorms are the best?

It is required starting next year that students live on campus for their first two years.
As far as freshmen dorms go it depends on what you are looking for if you are going for the social aspect I would recommended:
1)Monroe, Sharp
2) JL(all girls), Butler
3)Wall
4)Patterson
Although all dorms are relatively nice, if you are going for the building itself, amenities, programming etc. I recommend:
1) Wall (newest freshmen dorm...seperate application required
2)Patterson, JL (all girls)
3)Butler
4)Monroe, Sharp

Thanks, armcp.
I guess I'm not really looking for the social aspect- ideally, I'd like to get a single, but I know that's a long shot. I've shared a room all my life, so I just think it'd be great to finally have a place by myself.

A single room is rather overrated. It is nice to have some privacy at times, but I'm finding that single rooms don't get visited as often. Otherwise, I hear Wall is so nice.
