I am seriously ****ed off at UCLA. The only thing I asked for on the Housing Application was to get a double. I didn't ask for a roommate or a theme floor. The ONLY preference I had was to get a double, and then they put me in the worst possible dorm.

Chan, Benedict
DYKSTRA HALL
Double
Contract Start Date: 09/25/2005
Contract End Date: 06/16/2006

Looks like I got Dyksta. It also seems that I got my roommate! Right on! I don't really like Dystra as it's the oldest facility. But it's fun, so I guess it's alright. Oh man, dykstra doesn't have shower stalls (curtains...shock =( oh well. I'll live with it. I think I'm going to go for the 14 premier plan. Anyone else have Dystra? It seems that the majority of you guys and girls have Hedrick. No one got Sproul, Rieber, or the new Hedrick Summit and Rieber Vista.

I'm almost certain you can appeal your Hedrick triple assignment (seriously, that's a horrible assignment, haha)

On my floor in sproul this year there were two rooms of first years...and they were doubles. Everyone was curious since a lot of second years can't even get doubles in Sproul. The ppl from both rooms said that they had appealed their original assignment--one room was originally a sproul triple, one was a dykstra triple. Both ended up with sproul doubles. So you never know.

Offered double in Sproul. Grab it and run? Seems like everyone's high on Sproul. Can anyone be specific about their reasons? Is it just the location? Or the amenities? Not sure how it compares to other residence halls.

I appealed my original assignment last year and got a Sproul room. Sproul is great, but has very few freshmen. Hedrick is a great place for first-years simply because it is almost all first-years.

tdad, Sproul is desired because of its location mostly - it is close to roads to both north and south campus, it is central to the Hill itself, and is closest to Puzzles and Bruin Cafe. That and... well, its just cool ;)
In any case, I wouldn't fret too much about your assignment as long as you're in one of the high rises. You'll have a great time no matter where you live.

Guys, I know it may seem horrible to be in a triple, but you know what? It's just not that bad. Well, as long as you approach it with a positive outlook.

I've had a triple, and it really was a lot of fun.

Go Dykstra! You'll love it. There are shower stalls, just no private changing area. The entire shower area is closed off with a curtain. Don't worry about it, it'll be awesome :)
