I got accepted to Revelle at UCSD (even though I don't really want to be there). My major problem is that I HATE the housing at Revelle. I heard that because there are so many freshman, some students get housed in other dorms outside of their college. I would TOTALLY prefer this. Do you think if I sign up for housing at the last minute I'll have a better chance of being housed in some overflow dorms in another college? Is there any way I can get housed anywhere besides Revelle?

yea, i’d say u have a better chance of being housed elsewhere (probably warren overflow housing) if u sign up later. but, then u’d also have a higher chance of being in a triple.

I really don’t mind being housed in Warren actually. I sort of liked them, really. I liked them a lot more than Revelle dorms, in any case. However, living in a triple might be somewhat of a problem for me…

Well… I am under the impression that all the overflow housing that you are referring to is generally sent to Revelle, I would say that is a bad strategy! You don’t want to get stuck in the fleets!

Eww. The fleets. So, there’s no overflow housing for Revelle? Revelle is the overflow housing for all the other colleges?

^It has been the overflow housing for Roosevelt, Marshall, and Muir for the past couple years from what I’ve heard. Serrriously it’s not that bad I hang out there a fair amount! Just make your room super cute with decorations!

Edit: here is the link for the housing website. you can click on each college and see where overflow housing is sent. http://hdh.ucsd.edu/housing/location.asp

From what I’ve seen, ERC is one of the least popular colleges at UCSD, so why does it have housing at other colleges and at the “fleets”, whatever those are? Is it because it was simply not build to house as many students as it has?

ERC is actually very popular. The dorms are brand new, and they are huge and beautiful. Therefore the amount of space we have makes it so not every single freshman can live in the residence halls. Housing in ERC is always in high demand.

What’s wrong with the fleets? I mean compared to other Revelle dorms.
