Can someone please explain to me how overflow housing works, if it’s bad, and how can I prevent myself from being put into overflow? I want to dorm with my friend, who is in the same college as me. He submitted his SIR fast but I just did mine because I was hesitant about choosing UCSD or UCLA. I was really hesitant on joining UCSD bec of the 6 college system but now that I have decided to go here I want to live with people in my college (ERC btw)
It’s kind of random, but I think the sooner you submitted your housing app the less likely you are to get overflowed. ERC has fewer beds than most of the other colleges, so there is a chance you’ll be in ERC’s overflow housing in Revelle. It’s not the worst; Revelle is closer to just about everything and the community there is pretty tight. If you choose to dorm with your friend, you won’t be split up; you might both be sent to Revelle or both receive college housing at ERC.
What’s the housing application? Is that the one that comes after May 1st when they ask you what type of room you want (single, double, or triple) and the one where you make the $450 payment? I’m pretty confused bec UCLA required everything due by May 1st including roommate selection. Oh and btw is overflow a specific designated area or is it basically they put you in Revelle residential halls as if you were a revelle student? @DoctorP
@Mamasssss that’s the first part but roommate selection is due in July, and yea overflow is a few floors in Revelle so you’ll be grouped with other ERCers
