Housing

Can any present or past students give advice on housing choices? What would be a good choice for someone who wants to study, study, study during the week but still have a good time on the weekends??

Are you an incoming freshman? Then you don’t really have any choice except between Upper Campus and Newton Campus (unless you’re in the Honors program and then you can request a room in Medeiros).

It’s tough studying in your room where ever you are because there will always be people out in the hallways making noise. The best place to study are at the libraries on campus. There really is no difference between the Upper and Newton except for the buses, which probably are unattractive if you plan on studying into the early morning. As far as having a good time on weekends, you’ll probably have a good time whether you’re on Upper or Newton.

I am an incoming freshman and I am not in the honors program. I probably will be studying into the early morning hours, thus, would Upper Campus be a better choice? Plus, on the housing forms, do they ask you only if you prefer Upper over Newton, or do they also want you to request specific dorms?

BC randomly assigns dorms, you just choose the campus. Note that not all students who choose Upper will get the chance to live there. To me, it sounds like Upper would be the best option for you. The last bus leaves at 2am, maybe slightly earlier at 1:45am, so if you plan on studying past that time, Upper would probably be your best bet, unless you paln on studying at the library overnight.
