How does housing work? Do we recieve housing information after we pay the enrollment fee or sooner?

You have to pay the enrollment fee first. Then they will mail you the housing application/info as soon as it becomes available. Make sure you note the due date on the housing fee – it is in the housing packet – you don’t want to miss that date as your three years of housing guarantee depends upon submitting the fee on time.

Thank you very much for your response. My parent called the Housing people at Pitt as well. It sounds like they do housing on lottery as long as individuals have their payment by a deadline. This is interesting to me and I hope I can still get my first choice!

Anyone have any thoughts on what is the best dorm for freshmen entering Pitt in fall of 2010?

Forbes

Sutherland

Towers

I don’t know about Sutherland – it is a hike up and down the hill. This year DS is in upper campus but will probably head back down to lower campus next year. I would say: Towers and Forbes then a toss up for anything else. You cannot beat the convenience of Towers especially with the different eating places in the basement and everything is close by.

Of course, I am pretty sure you will make friends wherever you end up :)
