Housing

01234567, I was nominated for a presidential scholarship - They mailed out my decision late january :)

shinywing, You have to wait until they give you a dorm assignment which I think they start doing after May 1? Basically once you get an email saying you’ve been assigned, then you can move on to the confirmation and meal plan

Birnkrant Triple is the way to go!

Is the housing application binding or non-binding?

The housing application requires a $40 non-refundable deposit. It does not commit you to attending USC. If you choose to attend elsewhere all you lose is the $40. It is generally considered very worth risking the $40 if you think you might choose USC to assure your place in line for housing.

I’m not sure if I’m going to USC (still waiting for the financial aid package). If I do plan on attending, I want to apply for Parkside. Should I submit my housing app now? Or wait until I know how much financial aid I’m going to get?

id submit it now as when you submit the application decides which choice you get… And since most people will wait until they get their financial aid package, 40 dollars is not much to waste in order to beat the large group of people who sign up late… IMO its totally worth it…

Is Parkside on campus?

Yes, Parkside is on campus.

I really like the description of north being a central location as well as being a major spot for meeting people. Any opinions?

I signed up on march 20 something. What are my chances that I’ll land a spot in Birnkrant?

forever09: Hey! I read your description of the Parkside A&H Double w/ Bath, but I’m confused about it not being a suite. Does that just mean that it’s a room on it’s own (like other dorm halls) and not placed together with other rooms like the 8-Person Double/etc. options? Or does that also mean it’s smaller than the other rooms at Parkside A&H (bed, desk space, etc.)?

I paid the housing application fee and got the email saying:

“Your application for housing for the 2010-2011 Academic Year has been received. If you have potential roommates in mind you can search for and request them in the next section. If you do not have any roommate requests your application is considered complete.”

but my application status says “not complete,” and the “Profile Questions” and “Housing Prefereneces” sections do not show “complete” (I can still make some changes in the two sections). Have I successfully completed the application?

Yes, you have KGHSbear. :)

Thanks for answering my question:)

hi sorry for bringing the thread back up again but i have a question about bk triples.
if i requested a triple with two roommates and averaged, our time is around mid-march, i don’t know if we’ll get it because it seems that those rooms go really fast. does anyone know if that’s definitely too late to get one? because then it would make sense for us to break off into doubles so we all get a roommate we want.

also, if we do end up not getting a triple, how does usc do housing? how do they determine which two girls get placed together and which ones gets stuck with a random? because there is one girl who i’d want to room with in the case of a double.

thanks!

Does anyone need summer housing?
