What are the best dorms for freshman?

Hi - you don’t get to pick - you are assigned. I think Luter is the nicest - newer and their are sinks in the rooms - but they are all ok. And there is the new freshman dorm that is unnamed so far - that would probably be very nice. But since you can’t contol it - I wouldn’t worry about it. If you go to the residence life webpage - you can see floorplans of the dorms and a few photos of each dorm. They identify which house freshman and which are for upperclassmen.

Where would transfer students most likely live?

Any chance at a single or suit-style if you’re a transfer? I would love my own bathroom and my own kitchen if possible

Luter and Babcock are both really nice. I live in one of the older dorms and it’s not so bad. I love everyone in my hall… actually, I love basically everyone in the building. I truly do think they put the best kids in the older dorms to balance it out Kidding, kidding.

There is no “likely” place for transfers to live – it’s really wherever they have open spaces. Transfers have a shot at a single but suites are generally for sophomores, juniors, & seniors. Lots of juniors live in on-campus apartments. I think they have two bedrooms (a single & a double) with a shared living room, bathroom, & kitchen.

Luter has adjoining bathrooms (two doubles with a bathroom in the middle) which is nice for the freshmen. All of the dorms are different, but floor plans can be seen on the Wake website.

I know the housing system is potlock for freshman but do we get to put our top 3 choices or anything?

^^^ No, you don’t.

Off topic…But would you say there are a group of Wake kids who are stuck up or arrogant?

I have heard…obviously its a generalization…that a lot of guys can be “******y” and think they’re hot shots.

And I heard that some girls can be bit**y. Are a lot of people really “good looking” at Wake?

Give an honest answer…because it won’t have anything to do with me. I’m just simply wondering

Wneckid99 - You seem to have a really biased impression of Wake, no matter how many times I answer your questions. Maybe Wake just isn’t your school.

“I know the housing system is potlock for freshman but do we get to put our top 3 choices or anything?”

You do not get your top three choices, because everyone (for the most part) would pick Luter, Babcock, and Collins (well, probably the new dorm this year). But all of the dorms have upsides and downsides to them.

Palmer and Piccolo, although I don’t know if they’ll be used for freshman housing next year (rumor is that they won’t) are a little further from the rest of the dorms, but their rooms are pretty big. Bostwick & Johnson are the oldest dorms on campus, but they’re literally 10 seconds away from the pit, the library, and almost all of the academic buildings (minus the science ones).

When you get to Wake, you will care where you live for about .9 seconds. Everyone ends up happy with where they are, anyway.

Agree with that assessment, pink. So many questions about the sames topics, especially the partying, and how likely it is to be “caught/written up” for drinking.

I didn’t mean to ask it that many times. I’ve already had my questions answered about academics. The Wake board seemed empty so i asked it a bunch of times. Apologies…

BUT social life is as much about a school as the academics are. And trust me I’m not one to party a lot.

I did not say I had ANY bias towards wake. I just want to get down to what a school is really about.

Question: How will I know what Wake Forest people are like? Every school has a distinct feel that is difficult if you are unable to visit the university.

So Pink Cup cake…Can you tell me your impression of the students at Wake Forest? What is the feel? Would you say it has a nerdy feel? a jock feel?

Obviously it’s a generalization…but generalizations can always be made and taken with a grain of salt

If you get into Wake, you should definitely visit. In my opinion, you shouldn’t attend a school that you haven’t already visited. I thought I’d LOVE Vassar, and when I visited I couldn’t wait to leave; it wasn’t for me at all, despite the descriptions and everything else that said otherwise.

My impression of the students at Wake is obviously a very positive one, since I go here and love it. It’s not a nerdy feel at all. It’s not really a jock one either, although everyone exercises and does intramurals. I’m looking out my window right now and I see three people jogging and one big game of ultimate frisbee.

The thing that makes Wake different from other “preppy” schools where kids have a lot of money is that everyone works very hard here. Work hard, party hard. I need to study for econ right now – the library opens at four today because of the holiday and I expect to see a lot of kids there. I find that this type of student is somewhat unique to Wake Forest, so I really encourage you to visit. Nothing I can tell you will describe this school perfectly.
