can freshmen bring cars? and do the residence halls have private bathrooms or community bathrooms?

Yes, you can bring a car.

It depends which dorm you're in - most have communal bathrooms with the exception of Luter, which has suite-style bathrooms (two doubles share a bathroom).

Thanks juba. Are you a student?

Yep, I'll be a senior next year.

how do you like wake?
how big is greek life?
what is there to do in winston-salem?
how's the parking?

sorry for all the questions..i'm just REALLY PSYCHED!! :D

I'm not a Wake student yet, but I can tell you, from twelve years of living in Winston-Salem, there is ABSOLUTELY nothing to do. Stay on campus, drink a lot, and avoid Winston at all costs.

is winston dangerous?

how about the club/night life??
what about the hook up scene?
have you met people from wake? are they friendly?

lmao winston-salem is in no way dangerous from what i've seen.
i hear the parties are great. not sure about the hook ups. people at wake were awesome from my experience when i visited last week.

I graduated from Wake Forest a few years back.

I think the downtown area is much improved now, though a lot of students don't know that or don't seem to make use of it yet.

I did also notice this announcement:
Wake Forest planning to transform Deacon Boulevard area with development

which makes it sound like there will be a better set of decent student options in the coming years close to the football and basketball stadiums. I'm sure everyone is curious what exactly will be develped there.

^^^

That's wild. I just put a web address up there and it automatically inserted the article title instead as its highlighted link. I've never posted anywhere that it does that for you automatically. Kudos to CC. Pretty high tech.

I know TONS of people at Wake. Yeah, they're good people, but pretty uppity and "high class". That's not to say they only mingle with their kind, but you have to realize that the majority of Wake students are upper-class, southern people.

Winston in and of itself isn't dangerous except for the hood, which you won't need to worry about. Downtown night life sucks, but it is improving - there are a lot of nice ($$$) restaurants and clubs and things of that nature.

The campus at Wake is superb, and being a Winston-Salemer, I'd probably stay on campus most of the time. You, on the other hand, ought to explore at least a little. If I go to Wake next year, hit me up and I'll show you around Winston.

My son was at Wake for 2 years. He had a car from the beginning and parking was never an issue. First year, his parking lot was just at the edge of campus on Polo Rd (might be where most freshman passes are issued?)--so it was a little walk or you catch the campus bus. Second year, the pass was for close in.

thanks for the replies everyone!!

and Deankoontzftw, i am pretty sure i will be going to wake next year and thanks for your friendliness!

do you think you'll be going there next year?

hey deankoontzftw.. since you live around there you can probably answer this for me... are there any places to go skiing around wake? and by around i mean within a couple of hours

Skiing? Ouch. Considering the temperature doesn't get below 30 regularly, you'll be hard pressed to find a place to ski. I think the closest place would be "Ski Beech" which is about 2 hours west of Winston-Salem, though I've heard the slopes there are pretty mediocre.

Winter Place up in West Virginia is awesome, but that's four hours.

Also, there is a good chance I'll be going to Wake next year, but with merit scholarships pending at this point, it's hard to say. I've gotten into a few other good schools, but money is the most important factor for me.

Winston is the compton of the Atlantic
