Housing

Hey! I'm a Junior and I haven't gotten around to visiting UVA yet, but I will be this summer through Summer Residential Governor's School. I had a question about housing.

How are the bathrooms?

Is there a lot of room to store your stuff

Are floors tight-knit?

Do most students stay on-campus all four year (like I want to)?

Is weather an issue (i.e: too hot or too cold)

Is there cable?

Do most go to McCormack? (I kind of like Alderman)

Pertaining to the above question, which one is better?

For first years, is it better to apply to a selective dorm (Brown) or stick with the norm?

Yes, very early but I'm eagerr:)

bathrooms: there are lots of threads on this just do a search
room: none. my favorite story (which i can’t seem to find. so i will retype it) is that I love being a greeter because it’s hilarious to watch parents coming back down with all of the stuff that will NOT fit in the room. pack light. more below
-tight knit ness: depends. my first year we were all close and after that it was kind of my roommate and i vs everyone else.
-weather: definitely just do a search on this, there is a whole thread on what kind of coat to bring…
-cable: yes, ~$17/mo
-you don’t get to choose alderman vs mccormack so don’t worry about it
-brown vs others has been dealt with EXTENSIVELY just do a search :)

I really hope I get into UVA, sort of in love with the school, but will definitely have to visit soon to make a definitive choice!
