I'm looking for information about Branford beyond what's available on its website. Thanks.

He's a much more interesting musician than Wynton.

For sheer beauty, I think it's the top. Harkness Quadrangle (now Branford and Saybrook) was built 10-15 years before any of the other residential colleges, and before the university committed to building a whole bunch of residential colleges. It shows. The quality and workmanship are much better than in any of the other colleges. Together with the Law School, it represents the absolute best in faux gothic. And the four Branford courtyards -- three small, one large -- are more aesthetically pleasing than Saybrook's two medium ones. The Saybrook courtyards are a little hemmed-in by the height of the buildings. Branford has its beautiful big lawn and three actually intimate, right-scaled social nodes. Saybrook's dining hall is nicer, though.

Plus, Branford has Harkness Tower, the most recognizable structure at Yale. And only those in Branford have the privilege of living out Frank Lloyd Wright's quip that if he ever stayed at Yale, it would be at the base of Harkness Tower, so that he would never actually have to look at it.

Damn, Johnshade - I logged in solely to say exactly that.

Bump. Thanks JHS. Any additional pros/cons about Branford (College) or Vandebilt (Hall) would be appreciated.

Vandy is really nice. It's the prettiest freshman housing. The bedrooms can be small... sometimes people have to bunk, and almost everyone is in a double. the rooms in B-E tend to be larger than those in A and F. The courtyard is a good spot to study/chat/w.e

I think Vandy is beyond beautiful. The location is pretty far from most classrooms, etc. but it's not far from Branford itself.

JE's the best though...

False :-) To the OP: JE is right next to Branford and eternally jealous of it!
