How am I doing so far?

Hey y’all! I just finished my freshman year of high school (CO 2021)! I’m wondering how I’m doing for a freshman. I wanted to go to a college like Notre Dame, but now my dream school is U of Michigan.

My stats are:

3.92 GPA. I had to switch schools late my first semester due to family issues and that took a toll on me for most of the second semester (depression and anxiety). I had a 4.12 before the second semester grades.

Took a practice SAT (Khan Academy test 3) and scored a 1260 (610 Math 650 English). I plan on taking the actual test in August for a residential HS I plan on applying to.

Right now, not factoring in my semester 2 grades, I am 19th out of 479 students. The only kids above me got a weighted class in PLTW Biomed, which we didn’t have at my old school, so I couldn’t take it.

As for extracurriculars, I’ve done a few:

Spanish Club
Student Council (had to apply and be accepted)
Academic Team (I was the highest scorer and the only freshman)
I joined DECA for the next school year. I have an internship with a professional sports team starting late summer.
I’m in the process of starting a Science Olympiad team for my school.

I got my school’s Distinguished Scholar award for having a certain GPA.

How am I doing? Am I doing enough for my age to be on track for UMich?

i think you are on track. 3.92 UW is only 1 B vs 13 A. if you get 4.0 UW in Sophomore and another 3.92 UW in Junior. Aim at 1500 SAT, you should be fine. Anything less, you can still make it to Indiana and Purdue.

I wouldn’t worry about college… right now. Just try your best and see how you do. You seem driven, so I am sure that trying to get the best grades you can get will not be an issue. Also make sure that your family can afford UMich. It’s 65k per year OOS, so it is NOT cheap. That’s a pretty good SAT score for a freshman! If you can get a 1320+ next year, I would say that you could definitely work up to a 1500 as a junior or rising senior. Apparently, I am on the right track? I scored a 1230 on the PSAT at the beginning of my sophomore year, and then I took an actual ACT with no practice, on the 19th (with Princeton Review – actual SAT released test), and I got a 1360. I got a 660 M and a 700 RW. I hope this helps!

@lemonlulu Thank you! I’m going to go for a 1500 in August but my more reasonable goal is a 1360.

@ab2002 Thank you for the response!! I have thought about that cause I am out of state. I love U of Michigan so if I’d get in with FA I’d LOVE to go but money is more important. From what I’ve seen around, you’re probably on the right track!

@CavsFan2003 They do not give need-baised financial aid to OOS students. What state are you in?
