How are dorms? Lofted bed? Bed toppers?

My child is going to Mizzou, staying at Mark Twain (VERY narrow suite) and is planning on lofting their bed to have more room to store things under their bed.

My questions are:
-should they get a 4inch or 6inch memory foam topper?
-if they get the 6inch, would their face be too close to the ceiling?
-is it annoying to have another person in bed?
-what order does bedding normally go in? (mattress pad, topper, mattress encasement, etc.)
-is head lice or bed bugs really a concern if they have all of that bedding ^ between them and the mattress?

I don’t know anything about Mark Twain, but I can recommend calling the dorm if they are open and asking someone there. They were so nice and helpful when I called Lathrop and asked them all my dorm questions. It was way better than waiting for someone to reply in a forum. Hope they are open!
