How are job prospects for ND humanities (e.g., History) grads?

S has applied and been accepted to several quality undergrad business programs; however, his real love is History. He is ready to submit his ND application, and is wondering if ND has enough cachet with employers that, if admitted, he could major in History and still have good employment prospects after graduation. Thoughts?

In my opinion she should study her real love and take electives to make herself more marketable to employers. We have a friend whose daughter is a senior at ND now. She majored in history/econ and has a job in Boston in consulting after graduation.
I have a friend who was on Wall Street in investment banking for years. He told me his firm always would interview people from ND and Princeton, should they receive a job application. The thought so highly of those grads overall that they would make space for them.

Correction: “he” instead of “she” in my response.

My son was a double major, history and business (IT management) at ND. He is currently working for Deloitte. There are many companies who love ND grads, and also love humanites majors. Do you know that the number 1 major for CEOs in this country is history? Your son should pursue his passion - there are so many doors that his ND degree will get him. Perhaps he will go to law school, or into the foreign service, or perhaps, decide to go to medical school. At ND he will get an education, and that is so much more valuable for a changing world than a set of job skills that may be obsolete in 10 years.
