How are mods chosen?

How come there are regular parents who are mods, but no student mods?

Sounds like ageism. HAHA There are no mods under 30 either.

I think it’s a trust issue

I believe Alexandre is a student.

Actually, we don’t exclude students as mods, nor do we identify the age of any individual who chooses not to display it.

Can you apply to be a mod?

While it is none of our business as to whether Alexandre is a student or not, I appreciate that he does regularly take part of discussions and posts frequently. I wish the other mods would also follow his example. (Except you, Roger. You already do enough running the entire CC website!)

Regular posters are invited to become mods if they are noticed by Roger and other mods to be thoughtful, helpful contributors to discussions. This includes reporting offensive posts and not getting into flame wars with trolls.

Some mods like me use a different name when they post things that aren’t related to moderating forums. Others use the same name for moderating and general posting posting. One way or another, mods tend to be regular contributors to the forums.

I would never be helpful enough to be a moderator. I couldn’t resist the oppurtunity to flame or ■■■■■ now and then either.

Haha, if it were only based on posts, you would be the supreme mod, Zante.

On a similar note, how do people from schools become designated as college reps?

[Post</a> on college reps](<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showpost.php?p=1072550&postcount=3]Post”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showpost.php?p=1072550&postcount=3)

Hmm maybe I should report offensive posts more…

I’ve never seen anyone designated a College Rep. I’d be curious to know if there are any from the schools I’m looking at.

There are a couple; I’ve seen them.
Question is, are there people from adcoms who don’t identify themselves? I’ve heard that many college read CC and can easily identify a lot of the applicants. Scary…

<em>shrug</em> If they know who I am, hi there! Hope to meet you soon! :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously, I like to think most people are smart enough not to say anything really dumb on here that will hurt them. If you’re saying on a thread that you’re only applying to East Overshoe U. because your parents went there and you’ll get a legacy bump, you deserve to not get in.

I’m sorry, but what do you mean by flaming a ■■■■■?

A ■■■■■ is someone who posts something just to get attention, like “Duke is better than Northwestern” A flamer is someone who rips someone no matter what they say.

My secret dream is to be a mod, if not here, than on somewhere. I don’t have anything else to do with my time.

Someone saw my “I want to moderate the CC cafe thread” and offered me a modship at some political forum. The forum was too new for me to care really.

I think too many people hate me for me to ever a mod anywhere
