What are my chances for University of Illinois Champaign?

For the longest time I've wanted to go to UIUC because it has everything I need and its an awesome school. One problem though, my grades aren't the greatest. However here is my resume I guess you could say and let me know what you think. I don't apply till next year tho.

White Caucasian Male
Junior in high school
Class Rank 109/218
GPA: 3.22---which is a 3.45 GPA on a 4.0 scale. (My school uses a weird scale)
First Generation College Bound Student

I already took the ACT this past summer and got a 23(composite). I'm looking to improve to a 26-28 tho.

HS Courses:
I took AP US History last year and got a 4 on the AP Test. At the moment I am taking AP Biology. Also, I am planning on taking four years of Spanish, English, and Math. Next year I am taking AP Lit.

Extracurricular's:

Basketball (Freshman year)
Radio club
Key Club

I have volunteered at our local youth football camp.

I also maintain a blog for my High School on local athletics.

I'm planning on majoring in Computer Science or possibly History. Also I am working on attaining an Air Force ROTC scholarship

Some of the other schools on my list are:
University of Iowa
Iowa Sate University
University of Missouri @ Columbia

What do you think? Thanks in advance!

p.s. I don't know if this helps but I am a son of a disabled veteran.

Haha, I doubt the disability status of one of your parents will have any effect.

You are probabilty in at U. Iowa, Iowa State, and Mizzou. Especially if you bring up your ACT. UIUC is a different story, especially for computer science. Probably a match, but no garuntees. If you could get a 30 on your ACT I think you have a good shot.

How competitive is your highschool & do a lot of students apply to U of I? I know at my highschool about the top 10% of the class gets accepted every year (which is like 150 people since my schools so big) but i think it definitley depends on where your from and the type of school you go to. I think if you improved your ACT score to a 28 and applied to one of the easier colleges or just general you have a chance. Also, the essay is extremely important and when i visited they really emphasized how it can really make or break your decision. You have a good chance at Iowa, Iowa State, and Mizzou...

UofI is pretty tough for you. Your class rank is going to kill you. If you cannot get your ACT up above a 28 then I don't think its possible. Above a 30 would be ideal, since you need to counter your GPA/Class Rank

Yeah I realize UofI is basically out of reach but who knows? Anyhow thanks for the insight, I'll be back sometime next year for another chance me ;p

Sorry, but it doesn't look too good. U of I has terrible admissions policies, and being a white guy is working against you, especially with your stats. You can definitely get into the other schools though.
