Mock Trial Attorney
Sign basic ASL

Hey it’d be really cool if you guys would chance me for Brown and for Brown PLME. I know they’re reaches, but I’d like to know if I stand a chance.

I think your chances seem pretty good (or as good as they can be at a school where admission is never guaranteed). The only thing is that your SAT is pretty low in terms of Brown’s standards, so maybe just retake those?

Self-motivated is great; so is internally-driven. Beware that “hardest worker” is a double-edge sword: it often implies that the student is not a top-tier talent, but succeeds in a relatively benign high school environment by working twice as hard as his classmates to get the same work done. Those kinds of students are often overwhelmed with the higher standards of an elite college.

So in a recommendation, “hard worker” needs to be paired with “best student in my class” or concrete examples of breath across other aspects of your life (“always well prepared for class despite heavy involvement in…”) to avoid being misinterpreted.
