<p>i live in indiana. i want to major in neuroscience (or biology with a concentration in neuroscience) & do pre-med.
do i stand a good chance?</p>
<p>You have a great resume but your GPA and SATs for a neuroscience major would have to be very high. Did you take subject tests particularly in the Sciences? Are you planning to take SATs over?</p>
<p>You’ve got a couple of stellar ECs and for those, I’d call you a match. Your SAT and GPA are a bit below average so if you work hard senior year, retook the SATs and picked it up by maybe 60 points or so I’d say you’ve got a great shot.</p>
<p>I haven’t taken sat subject tests yet but I’ll definitely take the sat math & sat biology this october. I’m also planning on retaking the sat one last time in October as well. If I applied early would that increase my chances?</p>
<p>Well if you wanted to apply ed you wouldn’t be able to take the Subject tests and retake the SAT because you can’t take both on the same day and the ed deadline is November 1st.</p>
<p>I can’t take them on the same day? I didn’t know that. Well I suppose I’ll choose to either retake the sat or take subject tests on October. which would you recommend? whichever one I decide not to do in october I’ll do in November for the places that I’ll apply RD to.</p>

<p>Unless you have three AP scores of 5 that you can use, you would be advised to take the SAT subject tests first in case you’ll also need to retake those should you get below 650.</p>
<p>What if I took the act with writing in september & took two subject tests in October? I’d send in my ACT scores instead of the SAT & the subject tests if I do better, but if I do worse on the ACT than the SAT, I’d just keep my SAT score and submit it and the subject test scores.
I’ll also take the sat subject tests in November so that I could use those scores for my RD apps in case I do better in those than the ACT.
Does this sound like a good option? I know I’d be risking keeping the same sat score though…</p>
<p>hey rharan5930, NYU changed their testing policy for students that would be entering in the fall of 2011 (College class of '15), so you are not REQUIRED to take the SATII subject tests. considering that your score is a tad below the NYU average, i would probably recommend taking the regular SAT again, as well as the ACT, and then submitting the stronger score. This way, you have a shot at raising your scores and not being stuck with the one you currently have. Granted, you wont have subject tests to “enhance your application”, but a higher SAT composite will be looked favorably upon. Best of luck!</p>
