How are people receiving acceptance letters from CSU chico so fast ?

I applied to four csus, east bay, san jose state, sf, and sac state. I didn't apply to chico state but I have seen many people who did apply their receive their admission status recently. One of my friends applied 2 weeks before the deadline and received an acceptance letter about a week ago in the mail meaning he got accepted like a few days after he applied. I thought admission were suppose to come out in March ? How is it possible that these people received their decision within 2 weeks of applying and is this only csu chico or is it any others ? thanks

Most* CSUs admit by CSU eligibility index (described here: <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU; ). For non-impacted majors at non-impacted campuses, admission is determined by meeting the CSU minimum standard. For impacted majors or campuses, applicants are just rank ordered by CSU eligibility index and admitted from the top down until the desired number of admits is reached. (A few other factors like state residency and local area preference are simple to include in the computer program that they presumably use.)

So do not be surprised if some CSUs issue admission decisions earlier than March, since there is nothing in their process that requires a significant amount of time to determine (reading essays, evaluating extracurriculars, etc.).

*A few, like SLO, add additional criteria.
