I’m a prospective student wondering what it’s like to double major at SCU. Specifically in Political Science and either Theatre/Dance or Music. Also, any other insights on SCU is appreciated. Thank You !!
Hey, double major in Accounting and Communication, although I’m considering changing my comm major to a minor due to extenuating circumstances I’m not going to delve into here. I’m not particularly sure about what information you’re looking for, but a typical major consists of the core, general education credits, and then the major specific classes, both lower and upper division classes. If you double major, you have to do 1.5 times the work, doing two major-specific classes, while you can stick with one “set” of core classes (although you’ll have to satisfy the higher requirement - like, if one major only requires a second level language requirement, and the other the third level, you have to go with the third level/quarter language requirement to satisfy both majors.) PoliSci’s major has 15 classes required in order to graduate. Music has the same, not including private lessons. Same with Theatre/Dance.
Besides that, some classes you take for your major will also satisfy the general education credits, but you’ll have to search for them based on the majors you take. Doing a double major can easily be done in 4 years, as long as you don’t mind overloading some quarters.
