How are Schreyer's Honors College students percieved by other students at PSU?

Do you think Schreyer's Honors College students might have difficulty fitting in with the rest of the student body because other students might view them as a nerd?

no not at all, I already have 5/6 honors friends that I made during my first year considering that I`m not a very sociable person , many of them do fit the regular student body. I love the diversity at Penn State.
A friend of mine, studying at Harvard, he hates his social group having studied at the same high school and experiencing the international culture, he really had trouble getting into the Harvard experience.

note: I thought that all those guys were regular kids at penn state. You will also finds nerds in the UP as well. My roomate had an SAT score of 2230, other friends with 2250 2160, most engineers i knew had good sat scores. Some did have scores less than 1800s but got better gpas than other.

I was never aware of any stigma associated with the students in SHC - if anything, a mixture of pity and awe is more common. College is different than high school, and “nerds” are more or less mainstream.

Remember also that SHC is a bit insular - Atherton Hall serves as an academic and social center of the program, so in all likelihood you will be primarily interacting with other SHC students.

Also, SHC is still pretty diverse. I knew a couple of “stereotypical” nerds in the program, but I also knew a few varsity athletes and social geniuses. You’ll get judged far more on who you are and what you do then on whether or not you are in SHC.
