how are scores reported at stony borok?

At my current school, scores are mailed to the students about a week after the test with the class average, score, how many people scored higher/lower, etc...

How are exam scores reported at stony brook? and how do new students get an email account and do you access it(what is the website)?

Solar shows final grades and blackboard shows exam grades, if your prof uses blackboard that is. Nothing is mailed.

what is this blackboard thing you talk about?

what about the email client, where can I find it?

Both of those need to be set up through solar because you create a separate password for each. You can email the tech office and they will help you.

OK, but can anyone provide me with actual information???

What is the school's official email client? (you know, username@sbu.edu???) how do I access it?

I tried looking it up but came accorss lotus notes and ic webmail, what is the difference between these two?

Teaching, Learning + Technology - Stony Brook University

This is the help desk for the e-mail stuff. It's called your "Sparky" account (named after the Unix server it sits on) Here's the info:

GETTING AN EMAIL ACCOUNT

For most new students email accounts will be generated automatically.
To find out about your email account, please login to SOLAR. To open an email account, a student must come in person to any of the following computer labs:

* Main Library SINC site, located at Frank Melville Jr., Memorial Library,
Room S-1460
* Student Union SINC Site, Room 080 (basement)
* Computing Center, Dispatch Room 138
* Health Science Center Computer Room, HSC library 3rd floor

Hope this helps.

Chris

then, what is the lotus notes?

How is that email different than sparky in terms of what goes after the username (you know, @msn.com or @ic.suny....)?

Lotus Notes is just the software you can use to check your e-mail. It's not a Stony Brook product.
