How are the academics?

Hi everyone! I'm a senior looking at Wake Forest as my top choice and was hoping you could answer a few questions:
Are the academics impossible?/how demanding or time consuming are they?
Is grade deflation a huge problem?
What does it take to have a good GPA?
Thanks for your help in advance!

The academics are not impossible by any means. You need to go to class and do the work that is expected of you. If you do that you'll be fine. If you don't, classes might be hard. There's the occasional class you might struggle with, but overall I've found the classes to be manageable (and I've taken several semesters with 19-20 credit hours)

I personally don't think grade deflation is a problem. I think a lot of people at Wake use it as an excuse to explain low GPAs. Wake doesn't have grade inflation and I think that is the cause for lower GPAs not a specific effort to grade low.

To have a good GPA you need to do your work. You'd be surprised how many people skip classes, turn in work late or just not do it at all, then are shocked when getting their grades back. Keep up with the work. Go to class.

Based on D's experience to date, I agree w/ scarletleavy. As a freshman, D was amazed at how many of her friends complained that they'd never had to work so hard in HS as they did at WFU. D's response: "Are you kidding me? I spent the whole 4 years of HS working this hard!" Obviously reactions vary from student to student, but those who were able to glide by in HS may be in for a rude awakening. But, as mentioned above, if you attend class, see the prof when you don't understand something, and do the work, you should be fine. Rest assured, though, -- they aren't giving away grades at Wake!

Even into my junior year I think high school was a lot more difficult than Wake Forest.
