I am very much interested in Math and also look for physics, computer science and economics. How are these departments in NEU?
The faculty seems pretty good.

I want to be a prof in the future,so I am wondering are there many students go to top grad schools like MIT,Harvard after NEU?

I'm a freshman at NU and I'll try to help as much as I can...

For math, I've obviously only taken one math class so far (Calc 1 for engineers) but I loved it. My professor was great, and the math department seems very organized as fas as I can tell. My prof went to Cornell and I have noticed that most faculty here at NU went to really good schools themselves, and are enthusiastic about bringing that level of education to NU.

For Computer Science- everyone I know in the major (a dozen or more people) absolutely love it. They have a great program going on. The teachers are really dedicated, and seem to have worked really hard to develop a unique curriculum. I have heard some amazing stories about co-ops with google, microsoft, apple... Not to mention the college is housed in the incredibly cool West Village H.

I will add that even though you plan to be a professional academic, that's not the norm at Northeastern. You can totally take your education in that direction if you choose, but you will have to be ok with listening to a lot of talk about careers in the field and getting jobs, ect. because that's normally what everyone at NU focuses on. Be ready to actively pursue research because it won't be handed to you. You will have to be a top performer to get into those grad schools, but as long asyou don't slack off it's totally do-able.

Bio is good. I'm a Behavioral Neuroscience major and pre-med.

The main General Bio teacher is pretty awful. Most people hate her passionately. Once you get past her, the upper level teachers can be really amazing. There are also good work study options in the graduate bio and chem labs, if you get work study it's definitely worth checking out.
