I'm going to be dorming in a triple.
How is this compared to a double?
Will it be alot more cramped having 2 roommates instead of just one?

I am in the same boat as you. Just found out that I am in a triple also and I am hoping that the room wont be small. I was stressing out over a double and having my first roommate and now I have two! I hope that I will get along with at least one of them. Do you know the people that will be rooming with you or is it random for everybody?

It depends. Some people get actual triples, some people get doubles turned into triples.

I got a rather large triple my freshman year (almost twice the size of a double). The space was kind of awkward so there ended up being a lot of extra room, but that led to more people coming to our room since it was big ;D

I roomed in 2127 Ellicott Hall. You could try to roughly compare the size of rooms using the website [DRL Residence Halls](http://www.resnet.umd.edu/residence_halls/) Click on traditional room layout at the bottom of the page of whatever hall your staying at.

I don’t know the people I’m rooming with, but hopefully they’re chill people

If you call reslife with your dorm and room number, they can usually tell you what your room dimensions are.

I might have just had a bad experience, but when I did that they gave me completely wrong dimensions -_-

I think you can see on the site how many people your room is designed to have. Mine says “HONORS DBL” as “room type”, so I assume a room designed to be a triple would say so there.

Hi EddieD,

Just came across your post, my son is going to be in Ellicott 2127 next year with two other kids he doesn’t know. How big was the room? Was it OK being in a triple? Did it really fit three kids and did you need to bunk one of the beds? It looks like it is next to the lounge? Is it really loud? He is Gemstone so I assume his roomates will also be honors but I am not sure, he has yet to contact them.

Any info would be appreciated!
