How are you challenging yourself this year?

I'm going to be a sophomore come fall 2012, and I am planning on self studying AP Bio and maybe one other course. I also plan on joining the soccer team, Model UN, and maybe take some acting classes. I am already take piano. I will probably volunteer or intern here and there, because I am hoping to get a job. Hopefully, these ECs will help me on my college app.

What about you?

Personally I have the belief that if you are doing something to impress colleges they will be able to see that. That aside here is how I will be challenging myself…

Taking the ACT (I will/have been doing a ton of prep)

Two AP’s as well as developing my portfolio independently for one of the studio art AP’s

The rest of my classes are honors

Being the only junior on yearbook (you have to apply)

President of one club, membership chair for another

Well, my parents are making me, with a little input from me lol:

Take the ACT along with the SAT

Take up to two SAT II tests

Hold an officer position

By taking two AP sciences

Get a job, to pay for AP exams lol

Taking 2 AP history classes, trying to decrease my 5K time by at least a minute to make varsity XC, get 5s on AP exams, score well on SATIIs, make JV soccer (our school is very competitive), and join more extracurriulars like German Club, Model UN, and going to volunteer.

Since my school is a small one and does not offer any AP’s, this is what I"ll be doing my sophomore year:

-All Honors Classes
-Self-studying 4 AP’s (Euro Hist., Human Geo., Env. Sci., & Physics B)
-Student Council/NHS at school
-I’ll be joining 8 clubs/organizations through virtual school as well
-PSAT

Get a 10 point increase on my Sat II’s to make NMF
Get an 800 on one SATII and a 750+ on another
Make captain of VarTennis
2250+ on SAT.
Pull gpa above ~3.7

5 AP classes (try to get all As/5s)
Drop time in swimming
Take the ACT
7 hours of sleep every night

I guess I won’t be challenging myself this year(senior). Oh, probably taking part in 2 olympiads or something. And a job. Whatever.

Rising sophomore:
Taking 2 science APs (Chemistry + Bio)
PSAT/SAT
Viola competitions
Bunch of writing stuff: Finish/edit novel draft, monthly articles, look for freelance opportunities, maybe start a blog and try to gain traffic.

Rising Sophomore:
Joining MUN and Debate club
Self studying AP US Gov and AP Human Geo
Continue playing golf three times a week
Getting a 750+ in the Chemistry and World History SAT Subject Tests

Take all the APs I have yet to take
Win at Science Olympiad
Continue FBLA presidency
Obtain office in BETA, Science Club
Expand student missionary program

4 AP classes
Pushing myself even harder in debate in order to place in 2 events at state
Practicing flute more to get a higher chair
Studying more
And trying to balance my time

Two officer positions, maximum APs, Science Olympiad, Mathletes, MESA, Community Service through Key Club.

It’s my last year. I’m not going to a prestigious university but I’m just a really really bored student I guess. Whatever it is, I guess I’ll just make the most out of what is left in High School. I could be enjoying myself, but it all leads to the end anyways.

A thousand page senior thesis due at the end of the year, SMART team (google it), Robotics club, 4~6 community college courses, peer counselor, poetry club, etc. im not even sure whats going to happen next year it just will. Sadly and happilly though, it’s my last year.

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC

Use the year to really expand my horizons, so to speak. It’s my senior year, so I have college apps first, of course. After that, though, I just want to learn to do stuff. Circuits, programming, reading more books, whatever. It’s basically junior year without an SAT hanging over me.

Junior next year…

Currently volunteering at two places, running a new fitness blog I started (two articles up for now.) I am taking AP English & Composition and AP History because I go to a magnet school that gives a lot of homework. I won’t be able to volunteer much once school starts, I will continue doing my weightlifting sport when I have time and hopefully continue writing articles for my blog on weekends. Currently am studying an English writing book that has helped a lot so far, will continue reading it to improve for AP English.

I pretty much dedicated myself to doing a lot of stuff this summer so when school starts I won’t procrastinate because I need to get As. I will study my brains out for the ACT too.

Starting rowing, doing my first cycling races, hopefully NaNoWriMo and write a collection of short stories, self studying an additional GCSE. Between these and applications to private schools for the last two years of high school, I think I’ll be busy enough.

Not procrastinating and doing my homework at home.

I’m not :)

Jk. Taking AP Lit and AP Calculus BC while also juggling my ECs and shtuff. Should be fun! Last year, finally!

Lol¥ so excited!!!
