HOW are you guys calculating your GPAs??

I've heard several people saying that they have a 3.7 GPA average or something like that and I'm just wondering whether you are making an A- out to be a 3.7 or a 4.0?

My D based her GPA on what was on her school transcript. Colleges can see profiles of high schools since there are a wide variety of methodolgies for determining GPA, but self report is then consistent with official record.

Yeah I know my school makes an A- out to be a 4.0 (and it’s one of the top public schools in California) but how do the colleges calculate your GPA?

Colleges can only go on what schools give them. For example, my school doesn’t distinguish between A+, A-, or As. Everything is an A, and everything is a 4.

At my school an A- is a 3.7.

Our A- is 3.67 and there is no such thing as an A+

Thanks for the input guys. I think the conclusion to draw here is that colleges just look at whatever the high school gives them because of the major differences from school to school in terms of grading.

Mine is upload by my collge and guidance couselors on Naviance.

Probably because that’s how the UCs do it.
My school does that too–and we’re one of the top public schools in CA as well! : D

My weighted GPA is 105.86% and unweighted 94.62%. I have no idea how to convert that to a 4.0 scale.

Well, I asked Yale for my self. I gave them the low down on my own GPA and they gave me the best way to be honest in my application. I suggest the same for all of you guys.
