How are you notified application is complete?

My son submitted his application 10 days ago. He hasn't received any notification from USC that his application is complete or that it was received like he did from other schools. What is the usual procedure after applications are submitted? Does USC send some kind of email? Are students supposed to log in and check somewhere? Thank for any answers you can provide.

I had this same question and asked USC about a week ago. They said that they haven’t even begun to process or look at applications yet, and that once they started, they would send a notification email. The only way to check right now is to make sure your application is submitted on the commonapp.

This is the first year USC has used the Common App, so we are a bit in the dark. If any applicants have received instructions, PLEASE post so those just submitting will know what to do.

In the meantime, here is the USConnect system that has been used in the past: [" + loginpagetitle + "](http://usconnect.usc.edu/) Try entering the email address you used for your application and click “request password” to see if you can set up your account and check application status.

Let us know if it works! Good luck!!

He tried logging in to USC Connect (he has a log in and password from signing up for interview and reception). It does not have any information on the application status, just a link to the common app. He tried using his email and requesting a new password: that didn’t work either.

Oh well! Hopefully you will all be hearing soon. In the meantime, breathe a big sigh of relief that it is SUBMITTED and your household can relax while others stay up all night and skip school tomorrow trying to meet deadlines :)

I got an email from USC just now saying that they received my application and supplement…

Sheila…when did you apply?

My child applied last week. USC charged my credit card $70 so I take it that they received it!

I applied last week too.

My daughter received email yesterday that her app and supplement has been received. She submitted right before Thanksgiving. I’d love to know if they’ve received test scores yet.

Hi maddenmd,
My son submitted for USC SCA two weeks ago. They only downloaded the supplement a few days ago. On monday, DS called the admissions office to check on letters of rec, etc, because he’d heard nothing from them. They picked up immediately and gave him a confirmation number/confirmed his file was complete. Yesterday he finally received an email confirmation, also. So I would call to put your minds at ease. First year using common app = some blips and delays on their end. DS said they were very nice!

He got an email today saying they received his Common App and Supplement. He called to be sure that the transcripts, recommendations, and test scores were in. It was a good thing he did because one of his letter writers had used a shorter version of his name, not his full name and it wasn’t in his file, but they moved it over when he called.
Thanks for everyones help, and good luck to all!

Does it have to “downloaded” for it to be officially received? On the Common App website, I only see that my Common App and teacher recommendation were “downloaded.” My Supplement and counselor school report have not yet been downloaded.

I received two emails, however, that say my Common App and Supplement have been successfully submitted.

I tried calling them but got caught up in an automated system that kept telling me to look for application requirements on their website. I assumed that I was put on hold because they were playing music but I wasn’t sure because they kept repeating the “please go to the website to check requirements for undergrad applicants” message over and over again after I put in my USC ID. Did this happen to anyone? Should I try calling them again?

Yes, that’s supposed to happen. You were just on hold until a representative was available to talk to you. It should only take a few minutes to get through.

My D started submitting applications, test scores and recommendation letters in September since she had several EA applications. Everything was done online and she never had any questions about status of any documents because everything was clearly visible online in the Common Application, actstudent and collegeboard.
The last piece for USC was submitted 11/29.

We got a very polite letter in the mail today that D’s application was received.
It says that if she has any questions she can contact USC at 213-740-1111 or via website [USC Undergraduate Admission](Undergraduate Admission - University of Southern California).
No information how to check status online.

The website says online status check is not available yet.
