How bad are 2 withdrawals in one semester?

How bad are 2 withdrawals in one semester?

I'm a sophomore, have one other previous withdrawal from my Spring 2013 semester (dropped a course I didn't need for my major.) now I am contemplating dropping 2 more courses from my 19 credit load (arch major, studio taking up a lot of my time). I was thinking of dropping a theatre class (a basket weaving course for me, but it's a 7:30 class... Should I use the extra time to sleep?) and/or a general ed history class (need the credit, but considering taking it at a CC over summer).

Not sure what is more important? I think I do eventually want to go to grad school for arch--not too sure, but want to keep that option open. Thanks!!

Generally, a couple of W’s isn’t much of an issue, especially if it’s unrelated to your field.

That being said, I wouldn’t recommend making a habit of it. A transcript littered with W’s could be a red flag for grad schools, and dropping classes now could make it more worrisome to drop a class with a W later, even if you really need to.

I don’t think you should drop with a W unless you’re in danger of doing really poorly. If you’re doing fine but just don’t want to put in the effort, then I would recommend you suck it up and do it. No W’s is always better than many W’s. If you don’t have to, then don’t risk. And next semester, perhaps, you should rethink how you plan out your schedule so you’re not put in this situation again.

I agree with baktrax, don’t make a habit of W. I fell into that trap. It is not a pleasant experience. I don’t know how much it will affect me yet.

Do you receive financial aid or federal loans? Dropping more than a few classes will result in getting below the SAP level that you need to qualify for those loans.
