How Bad Do These Ruin My Chances?

<p>Hi, I am a prospective student (Hispanic, First-gen, Engineering Major) wondering how bad the following ruin my chances...</p>

<p>1) GPA: 3.45 UW
-Freshman Year: 3.2 (HORRIBLE, but my parents were going through divorce that year)
-Sophomore Year: 3.57
-Junior Year: 3.49</p>

<p>2) Core Curriculum
-I have only taken 2 honors no APs, but my school does not allow you to take APs until junior year
-My sophomore and junior year combined, I have gotten a B- and a B, but those have been for non-engineering related courses (I want to major in engineering). Other than that, I got 3 B+s, and the rest have been A-s or higher.</p>

<p>3) Rank: 127/460 (~27%)
-I am so annoyed because the difference between me and 80/460 is only .08</p>

<p>So, do I still stand a chance?</p>

<p>Unless your SAT/ACT’s are amazing and your EC’s out of this world I wouldn’t count on it. But, you never know. Show them that your are very interested. Write an amazing essay and you might have a chance. Good luck.</p>
