How bad do your grades have to be to get rescinded?

I got in to Yale Early Action in December but I am now starting to get worried that I will be rescinded.. my grades right now are all B's. Granted, I think I can pull up a few of them by the end of the year but this was a pretty rough grading period for me. How bad do your grades to be to get rescinded? Until this semester I have only had at max one B a year, but this has been a rough grading period. Is it too late? Do you know anyone who has ever been rescinded in the past?

Thanks guys

I hear that B’s are completely fine. You should be only worried if you start getting C’s.

This question has come up many times, and nobody has ever reported being rescinded for getting Bs. You might get a letter admonishing you.

Just be absolutely sure nothing is a C, D or F.

One person last year I believe was rescinded with 4B’s and one A.

yeah i know someone who got a warning letter with all B’s second semester… (didnt get rescinded after they asked him to write a letter and he wrote a good one i suppose, but he did get contacted)

I’d have to see proof. I very much doubt this.

Threads like this make me sad. It’s upsetting how many kids let themselves go after getting an Ivy acceptance.

Maybe his letter was good enough to keep him around though, idk.

Students getting B’s are hardly “letting themselves go.” Everyone that is a parent/teacher/mentor that has an issue with senioritis need look no further than themselves. The way the system is currently set up, from day 1 students are pushed to do their best so they can get into the best college. And once that happens (especially with Ivy League schools…the BEST of the best), what motivation is there for these students? All they have ever known is striving to get good grades simply for the end result: college. Many were never taught that perhaps the most important part of the process is the journey; learning as much as they possibly can for the sake of learning.

@overachiever- He was not rescinded. I have spoken with him over PM. I have never heard of an Ivy acceptance being rescinded for B’s. Students will get letters though, but I am pretty sure the school rarely takes extreme action.

That kid got a letter admonishing him. As I’ve said in other threads, I have not read a single example of a kid being rescinded that surprised me.

I hate to be an ass, but maybe it’s because I’m too busy trying to prepare my school yearbook for export in March and a expanding $50,000 out-of-school nonprofit to have all A’s this semester. I don’t mean to sound self-righteous, but perhaps you would be better off worrying about yourself.

I should’ve made myself clearer. There’s nothing wrong with Bs at all, I’m sure you have a very rigorous schedule. I was thinking more along the lines of kids who get Cs and Ds, for no other reason than they just have little motivation to continue doing well in school. Xfxjumper, I agree with everything you said actually.

I’ve gone from a straight A student to a straight B student this semester. I empathize with all of you as we wait for our decisions. Nothing wrong with slacking off after 3.5 grueling years of work.
