How bad does late arrival look to colleges?

Here's a little background information. I'm currently a junior and have already selected my classes for my senior year. My schedule looks like this:

AP Stats
AP Physics
AP Lit and Comp
College Spanish IV
Reg Gov't/Economics (1 semester each)
Study hall (Late Arrival)

Compared to other students at my school (but not other CC people), my schedule has been pretty difficult, with 4 weighted classes senior year and 10 total through my HS career, along with a couple honors courses. I've also done pretty well in those classes, and am currently ranked 2nd/410 in my class.

So would slacking off a little and taking Late Arrival my senior year even be that big of a deal for me? I'm not trying to get into any Ivys, but am looking to be a Chem Eng at the U of MN, which has a top 5 nat program. The only other class I'd consider taking is AP chem, but my current sched + AP chem seems a bit overkill for me, especially during my senior year when I wanna kick back and have some fun.

Is taking Late Arrival a big turn off for colleges or is it not really a big deal and wouldn't be much of a detriment to me?

Okay, I’ll bite–what is Late Arrival?

I think you mean maybe not talking a first block/period class? I don’t see how the college really knows, except that maybe you are taking fewer classes than you could. I would say that your schedule looks a little light if you wanted to get into a top school. Even some kind of arts electives add something to it. But if you have a strong GPA and are in-state for U of MN, I would think it would be okay.

Basically, you don’t show up until 2nd hour and are taking 5 classes instead of 6. It shows up as study hall on your schedule, but there isn’t an actual class for it and it’s given 1st or 6th hour, so we can show up late or leave early.

My D2 did this second semester of senior year; it just showed up as a study hall. Given your class ranking and assuming your SATS are are strong as your grades, you should still be admitted to U of MN’s program.

Alright thanks. And yeah, my act score holds up fine for the U of M engineering. i got a 32 with 34 on math and 35 on science.
