how bad is a C in an extra class on transcript?

hey guys, so this year as a senior I took a differential equations math class at a local community college. it's not a class i take during school- it's like an extra class i took along with my usual school schedule since i already finished all the math classes available at my school last year. so... i got a C in the class, i was really stupid and didn't devote as much time to it as i should have. should i drop the class so it won't be on my transcript or should i let it be? does anyone have a general idea how badly a C in an enrichment class would affect me in terms of my midyear report for top schools?

does anyone have any opinions on this? o.o

I would withdraw from it. I looked at some of the schools you are considering (stanford + princeton) and a C isn’t going to bode well for your admission, especially when taken from a CC. It would be better to have them assume that you couldn’t handle all the extra work, then to believe that you couldn’t handle the math.

drop it…

Hey bro I did even worse, I took a college algebra class to brush up because it had been a long time since I’ve seen much math. During the semester my marriage failed and a custody battled started. I was so stressed out about possibly losing my son that I completely stopped going to class and totally forgot to drop it. When I realized I needed to drop it, it was too late. I got an “F”. I have since went back and taken it again but the “F” still lurks in my transcript. You should drop the class and take it at an other time. That one mistake KILLED my gpa. I wonder if an adcom would understand my situation at the time when it’s time for me to transfer to a decent university. DROP THAT CLASS!!!

OP, Drop the class? But the semester’s over, you have a grade. It’s done, right?
