How bad is it that I'm failing 11th grade chemistry?

I have always loved school and never actually disliked a class until Chem…ugh. My quarter 1 grade was 76, my quarter 2 71, and my midyear 68. I can’t even bring myself to study because it gives me so much anxiety to think about…and then I fail tests…and then feel worse about it…so I’m in a bad cycle. I’m in honors, so I could drop and get an easy A, but at this point the withdrawal would be labeled on my transcript. I’m going to try for a B- year average, but if it’s lower, how bad even is it? My gpa is overall ok, high SAT 1 and 2 scores, I have solid ECs with my interests not centered around anything involving science, I’ll have great recs, and my essays will be good. So like… do you think it’s a huge deal to have one C/C+ on my transcript? :frowning:

A high or C won’t hurt your chances. What college are you looking at?

I would withdraw honestly.

I’m looking at mainly BU, Northeastern, and NYU. Nothing super prestigious.

Is chemistry required for graduation?

No, I don’t need it to graduate. I mean, I’ll pass the class, as in get at least a C- for the year, I just don’t know what it means for colleges.

Try to get 75-80 overall. You’ll survive if that’s the only such grade on your transcript.
Note that you should try to have bio, chem, and physics (all three, at any level including regular) for the type of schools you’re targeting.
