Gregory Mitchell, wow listening to your stories makes me laugh. I'm probably going to UConn to save money since I got a major scholarship. I know alot of people from my high school (God forbid it, in Fairfield County) who went there. Pretty much none of them fit into your category.

My only suggest for you is to:
1. Get contacts.
2. Cut that "samurai hair"
3. Lose some weight.
4. Stop watching anime.

Its just how people from CT are, get used to it.

i agree with a lot of the things he is saying. I am an athlete so that on top of everyone being anti social (unless your in a frat/sorority). Hatred towards athletes. I have also had no times i have felt any intellectual curiosity or any thing other than drinking. The dorms are bad, the food is even worse. I came from 1000 miles away from a beach in florida to middle of CT, dont even ask. I am looking at transferring to an actual university.

For those of you considering Uconn, I would not take Greg Mitchell's post seriously. First, consider the date it was posted (in the middle of the summer 2007) and he refered to a dorm as the "jungle". That term has not been used for many years at Uconn. Most current students only know that area of campus as "North Campus". Uconn has its problems like most large and small universities and colleges, but ultimately your college experience is what you make of it.

Yes athletes are outcasted. Live a day in the life of a college athlete and you will be outcasted. The frat system is bad they try to pick fights all the time. I understand that it sucks you have to pay for college and frat and i get school free but thats how the world works. I made it through a different medium then most other people.

and yes the drinking thing is partly the university. They claim to be this great university but its all a facade. I am from close Univ of Fla a higher rated public school and a school where they actually have high admissions standards. I have met quite a bit of people here that got in on academics and are well lets just say not up to par with the rest of the class.
