how badly affected?

i plan on applying to wharton ed, intending to major in economics. how badly will my college application be affected if i have roughly a 3.6-3.7 uw gpa, and roughly a 4.0-4.1w gpa? i will still at least in the top 10% of my graduating class, possibly top 5%. my school is, according to newsweek, just within the top 300 in the nation. also, within my freshman, sophomore and junior year, i took 7 AP classes (one of the most in my class).

what kind of ecs would i need to offset this gpa?

thanks for the input. it is very much appreciated.

why do you apply to wharton for economics?!
do they even offer it?
i mean CAS offers economics and its WAY easier to get in.
a fried of mine got rejected ED with a 4.4 2200 sat score and more APs than you did. and he attends a top 10 private school

wharton is business not econ

o wwwwooooowwwww… i can’t do economics at wharton?

wharton is applied econ which is business. you can’t concentrate in econ at wharton. you can still minor in econ though if you want.
(this is the list of concentrations [Wharton Undergraduate Program: ‘+pageName+’](http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/undergrad/subPage.cfm?pageID=17)).
apply to CAS if you want pure econ (it is more theoretical).

can someone please specify the difference between CAS and Wharton in terms of majoring in economics? also, can you please answer my original question?

“what kind of ecs would i need to offset this gpa?”
GOOD ONES! there isn’t one answer. penn looks at each applicant holistically.

“can someone please specify the difference between CAS and Wharton in terms of majoring in economics? also, can you please answer my original question?”
READ ABOVE! but since you ddin’t, wharton is applied econ so you aren’t actually studying econ (you do lots of case studies), CAS is theoretical econ
